Unlike the other children living
in the delta region or the cities of the country, children in Sapa often has a
tougher life about everything. A part, it maybe because of the geographical
location of Sapa located at upland, it's very far from the urban areas, the
city center and the industrial area, which can often bring people a better
chance to earn a living than other area, especially the mountainous region like
Sapa, Ha Giang or some other mountain provinces. So Sapa children often know
how to earn money earlier than the other children.
In the fact, at the age of 6 or
7, the children in cities often have happier life when studying, playing are
always what often take place around their life day by day. Meanwhile Sapa
children and their parents can together earn a living by selling trinkets and
souvenirs, even some older children must carry their younger siblings around on
their backs while selling goods. So the image of Sapa children in colourful
clothes often entice tourists to buy goods from them has become a popular sight
for visitors. But anyway that's also a better look about them than the older
children in the upland of Sapa because in fact the children belonging to upland
of Sapa at the age of 11 0r 12 they may be porters who carry luggage for
tourists or working on the fields with their parents. And it seems that's the
way for they train themselves getting less naive when everyone often finds one
fact is that they look older than the children of the same age in the other region.
Actually, not all of Sapa
children have such a tough life, some of them still have a good life like other
children in delta region or the city but they are not really much. But anyway,
it's also image showing us an insight about the culture and the way of life of
the people in upland of the country. And it's also unique indigenous culture of
the mountainous region in general and in Sapa in particular. Although they have
no a happy life like the children of the same age but they always smile at what
is going around them. And it seems to be image of what we often call happy. And
happy seems to be simpler through a look of highland kid.
